Mitsubishi cars are packed with cutting-edge technological devices to make driving more comfortable, safer and easier
Riding high on technology

It is amazing how technology can make cars go faster yet safer, more fuel efficient but also fun to drive. These advancements are made possible with computers and software that are more powerful than those used in the historic Apollo lunar module in which Neil Armstrong landed on the Moon.

Mitsubishi cars for example, are packed with electronic features, which, fortunately, you don’t have to be a computer whiz to appreciate because the systems are designed to function automatically. The driver only has to focus on the road while the systems work in tandem for a seamless, intuitive driving experience.

More importantly for some, concerns over the reliability of this technology can be laid to rest by the five-year unlimited mileage warranty that comes with every new Mitsubishi car.

Lancer Evolution X

Advanced electronic driver aids are the main reason why 10 generations of iconic Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution models have been a firm favourite with driving enthusiasts and the world’s motoring press.

The latest Evo X, as it is affectionately called, continues this tradition of Mitsubishi technology with a host of electronic features. Much of this car’s legendary handling is attributed to unique features known as Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) and Active Yaw Control (AYC).

These systems enhance the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system of the Evo X by intelligently directing the turbo charged engine’s torque to each wheel, which in turn influences the car’s handling. Like a conductor in an orchestra, the S-AWC and AYC systems send the engine power to the wheels with the best grip to give the Evo X unparalleled cornering, acceleration and safety. This results in a car that can make anyone feel like a rally hero.

Just like rally cars, the S-AWC system can optimise the Evo X for a variety of road surfaces, from the normal to gravel and snow-covered roads. The range-topping Evo X is also available with the acclaimed Twin-Clutch Sports Shift Transmission (TC-SST). This 6-speed automatic manual gearbox offers the responsiveness and fuel efficiency of a manual transmission along with the ability to shift gears faster than humanly possible.

Yet the TC-SST also offers the convenience and smoothness of an automatic gearbox.

Lancer EX

Mitsubishi’s best proprietary technologies can also be found in other models throughout the range. The Lancer EX, for instance, shares its chassis with the Evo X as well as many suspension and body components that make even this less extreme model enjoyable to drive.

At the heart of the Lancer EX is its advanced engine management system known as MIVEC, which stands for Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing and Electronic Control. This system optimises the engine’s power delivery, emissions and fuel consumption by continuously monitoring the driving conditions and the driver’s throttle inputs. As a result, the Lancer EX 1.5 has the best fuel efficiency in its class.

Mitsubishi ASX (Active Sports Crossover)

The chassis of the Evo X is remarkably versatile as evidenced by the ASX that shares its underpinnings. In this crossover vehicle, it offers lots of cabin space, comfort and a commanding driving position that imparts a sense of safety for many drivers.

The ASX is equipped with an advanced Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) known as INVECS-III, another proprietary technology of Mitsubishi Motors. Always in the optimal gear setting, the CVT “learns” your driving style — so the more you drive the ASX, the more it feels like a car that’s suited to you.

Additionally, the Electronic Time and Alarm Control System (ETACS) is fitted in every Lancer Evolution, EX, ASX and other Mitsubishi models to make your drive more comfortable and secure.

Features such as headlamps, wipers, door locks, interior lights and folding mirrors are controlled by ETACS and automatically activated according to the driving conditions at any time.

In essence, ETACS acts like a personal assistant that anticipates and sees to your every need so that all you need to do is enjoy driving your Mitsubishi.

Whether you’re after better performance, fuel efficiency, safety or convenience, the technologies found in every Mitsubishi make it possible to find a car that’s right for you.
