With up to 21 kilometers of cycling paths planned for Ang Mo Kio alone, you'll want to keep that chain well-lubed if you live anywhere nearby.

Ang Mo Kio residents rejoice! Your estate will soon get up to 16.2km of additional cycling paths!

In a Facebook post published on 21 April 2021, the LTA announced that the estate will be getting an additional 21km of cycling paths. The first 16.2km of which is slated for completion by 2023, and the remaining 4.8km to be built by 2026.

Part of the first phase of construction is a six kilometer-long stretch that will connect the upcoming Mayflower and Lentor stations along the Thomson-East Coast Line.

The additional cycling network is planned to connect onto the existing as well as planned Park Connector networks around the estate, on top of a planned additional 2.0km-long linear park that will connect the Ang Mo Kio and Yio Chu Kang MRT stations.

With up to 1,320km of cycling paths and park connectors planned by the URA for completion by 2030 and with COE prices currently at record highs, perhaps it could be time to make the switch over to two wheels instead of four?
