Ford Mustang arrives

The new Mustang has finally galloped to Ford agent Regent Motors. It is the first time in more than 50 years that motorists in Singapore can partake of this American icon. The tamer 2.3-litre variant is here first, while the 5-litre 435bhp V8 bronco should follow next month. The four-cylinder pony is racy enough for most anyway. Its turbocharged engine packs 317bhp and 432Nm, making it more muscular than the original V8 version introduced in 1964. Mated to a six-speed autobox with a paddle shift, the power plant propels the rear-wheel-driven Mustang 2.3 to 100kmh in 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 250kmh. The car is priced from $253,888 and is available in eight colours.

New Merc E-class debuts in Singapore

Mercedes-Benz introduced the 10th-generation executive saloon on Thursday, with a launch event at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre. The automaker's best-selling model in Singapore is now likely to appeal even more to towkays, with its redesign, high-tech driving aids and new suite of amenities. The first model to go on sale here is the turbocharged 184bhp 2-litre E200 with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Prices start at $264,888 including COE.

New Mazda technology

The Japanese carmaker has unveiled a new addition to its Skyactiv suite of driving systems. G-force Vectoring Control, or GVC, is a software solution developed for vehicle stability and comfort. It works by modulating engine torque to the driven wheels so as to improve their grip on the road and require smaller steering corrections from the driver. GVC will be progressively introduced across the company's model range, starting with the recently facelifted Mazda 3.

Gold Leafs for Britain's gold medallists

Britain's Nissan-sponsored athletes at the Rio Olympic Games next month and Paralympic Games in September have been given more motivation to beat their rivals. Every gold medallist will be rewarded with a gold Nissan Leaf electric car.
