Polestar is a Swedish company that has been racing Volvos since 1996. It is the official performance partner of Volvo and runs the Volvo motorsport program.

Besides focusing on competition in racing as well as the development and production of Polestar road cars, Polestar is responsible for power optimisations for Volvo road cars. Here are five things you didn't know about it.

1. Volvo, in partnership with Polestar, is the first car manufacturer with an in-house wind tunnel that combines a moving road simulation system with the ability to reproduce airflow around the car.

2. Based on 17 years of motorsport experience, the Volvo C30 Polestar Concept Car was the first concept developed by Polestar while the Volvo S60 Polestar was the first Polestar-developed production road car.

3. Polestar Performance optimises the power and torque of a Volvo while retaining its factory warranty.

4. A Volvo with Polestar Performance optimisation has the same certified fuel consumption and emissions as the standard version.

5. The blue dials in the new Adaptive Digital Display and diamond-cut aluminium Ixion rims are exclusive to the R-design range.
